In 2018 our school has adopted new values that we wish to build and develop in every student at our school. These are the CORE Strengths:
Community: Looking at the school and wider community: belonging to something bigger then themselves (spiritual component of BSEM). Correlates with our social justice focus and changes to the student leadership team.
Ownership: Looking at students taking ownership of their actions (choice theory). Relates to reflection time and possible changes to our discipline procedures. Meets the self-regulation work we are doing in the body domain of the BSEM especially in regards to understanding the brain.
Resilience: Relates again to self-regulation. Also our positive education work around growth mindset and grit
Empowerment: Relates directly to getting our kids back in their power and giving them autonomy.
Strengths: Recognising our character strengths and building upon them.
CORE Strengths is about recognising what are the things of most value to us. Also relates directly to the concept of being present, centred and grounded.
