Support

The Staff of the support unit at Doonside Technology High School recognise that all students have individual learning needs.  The combination of quality educational programs delivered in an inclusive and caring environment enables students to be both challenged and engaged in their learning.  Our students will actively and positively participate in the learning opportunities provided, which will assist them to be valued members of their community.

The support unit consists of 5 classes for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities ranging from Years 7-12. All programs of study follow NSW curriculum and syllabuses (NESA) for life skills, Stages 4-6 curricula including core subjects, discrete and mainstream electives and work experience.  In school TAFE courses SVET and TVET courses offered by regional TAFE colleges are offered to senior life skills students as part of their units of study.

All students in the support unit have the opportunity to participate in whole school activities including camps, assemblies, sport, carnivals and special events. School staff  have  a commitment to achieve the best possible outcomes for students in the support unit by providing discrete and inclusive classes using best practice strategies.
