Intellectual

At Doonside Technology High School, our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Intellectual program nurtures students’ academic curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking. Through our Elevate Class and Elevate Day initiatives, selected students engage in challenging, cross-curricular learning experiences that foster collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation.

Students also have opportunities to extend their learning through participation in ICAS Reach Testing, benchmarking their skills across English, Mathematics, and Science, as well as through enrichment events like the History Masterminds Competition, where they apply classroom learning in real-world contexts.

Our Mentoring Program connects senior and junior students to build leadership, confidence, and collegiality, while initiatives such as Girls in Tech inspire female students to explore pathways in the rapidly evolving fields of technology and innovation.

Through these programs, DTHS empowers high-potential learners to strive for excellence, build resilience, and make meaningful contributions both in and beyond the classroom.

At Doonside Technology High School, our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Physical program supports students who demonstrate exceptional athletic potential, dedication, and a strong commitment to personal growth. Through a variety of enriching opportunities, students are encouraged to challenge themselves, build resilience, and excel both on and off the field.

Students participate in initiatives such as the Run Beyond Project, where they set and achieve personal fitness goals while learning about perseverance and goal setting. Our partnership with Rise & Conquer CrossFit provides specialised coaching that develops strength, teamwork, and confidence in a supportive environment. In addition, students visit the Blacktown International Sports Park Training Centre of Excellence to experience elite-level testing and workshops in performance, nutrition, and recovery.

Ongoing opportunities through our After-School Gym Program and participation in Representative Sport Pathways allow students to further develop their athletic performance and leadership skills. These experiences empower students to reach their highest potential, model commitment, and embody the values of discipline, teamwork, and pride.

Creative

At Doonside Technology High School, our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Creative program celebrates innovation, expression, and imagination across the arts. It provides students with opportunities to explore their creative potential, connect with authentic audiences, and engage in real-world artistic experiences that promote confidence and cultural understanding.

Students take part in initiatives such as the Lunchtime Concerts, offering regular performance opportunities in a supportive environment that builds confidence and stage presence. The Humans of Doonside Project empowers students to share powerful stories through portraiture, film, music, and dance, while The Hearts Project connects creativity with empathy through art and letter writing for community outreach.

Further opportunities like The Curatorial Team and ArtBeats Showcase and the annual HPGE Art Camp immerse students in exhibition design, creative collaboration, and cultural reflection. These initiatives nurture independence, emotional intelligence, and leadership while deepening students’ sense of identity and artistic purpose.

Through these experiences, DTHS fosters a dynamic creative culture where students are encouraged to take risks, think critically, and express themselves with authenticity and pride.

Social/Emotional

At Doonside Technology High School, our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Social and Emotional program focuses on developing leadership, empathy, collaboration, and self-awareness. It empowers students to build meaningful relationships, strengthen their emotional intelligence, and make a positive contribution to their school and community.

Students engage in Student Leadership Workshops, held each term, where they explore strengths-based leadership, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and public speaking. Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) and Student Representative Council (SRC) provide authentic opportunities for students to lead initiatives, organise events, and represent their peers across the school.

Through partnerships such as the Creating Chances Coaches Program, students design and deliver sport and leadership sessions for younger students, fostering confidence, responsibility, and mentorship. The Community Project further allows students to collaborate across year levels to identify and address local needs through creative, student-led action.

Together, these initiatives nurture well-rounded, compassionate, and resilient young leaders who are equipped to inspire others and create positive change within their school and wider community.
